80 Years and Going Strong!

On Sept. 1st we celebrated Mike's grandmother's 80th birthday!  It was...an event!  Many people, MANY PEOPLE traveled to be a part of this special day!  It all began with a surprise spaghetti dinner to reveal that all of Grandma's grandchildren and great grandchildren were in town.  People flew from Washington, Florida, London...lets just say that everyone was there. Then the next night was a mock birthday BBQ.  Grandma thought this was the main event and that we would all just meet for Mass the next day.  Little did she know that what would be waiting for her after Church!  A hall full of all of her friends and family, Mariachis, and a lot of good food and drink!  Here's some pics of the fabulous night!
The oldest grandchild of each family brought the Communion offerings to the alter.  I'm sure grandma shed a tear when she noticed!

Grandma being serenaded by the mariachis!

The descendants of Grandma Margaret and Grandpa Edward.  Unfortunately I was at home putting the kids to bed!  BIG MISTAKE!

And of course...the famous Romero Tequila Dance!!!!

 More tequila.....

....more tequila....that's me in the background waiting for my turn!

Grandma doing her shots!  It's dark and blurry but still fun to watch!

Katie and I after the tequila....Yep, we are a bit tossed!

In case your wondering about childcare....

Needless to say it was a fabulous night.  The whole weekend was a trip!  There is nothing like having all the cousins in town to party with!  I feel so fortunate to have married into this great family and for my children to have all of these crazy fun relatives!  Thank you Grandma for your love and dedication!  Happy 80th!
